LOUISVILLE, Ky. —What a wonderful evening with Stevie Wonder and Deanna Southerling at KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, KY. Deanna presented a special engraved Louisville Slugger to Mr. Wonder. The bat branding with the Louisville Slugger oval logo, the KFC Yum! Center logo, and Stevie Wonder – Song in the Key of Life Tour, was both in braille and English.
Louisville Slugger and the KFC Yum! Center partner up to give music legend Stevie Wonder what they believe to be the first ever braille baseball bat.
The braille baseball bat will be given to Wonder when he performs his ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ tour at the KFC Yum! Center Friday, March 27.
The staff at Louisville’s American Printing House for the Blind created the special braille file used in the laser-engraver at the Louisville Slugger’s bat factory.
The bat will be a maple finish with orange-and-white accents to mirror the colors of Wonder’s hit album “Songs in the Key of Life.”
It will also have the typical Louisville Slugger branding on the side, the famous oval logo, the KFC Yum! Center logo, Wonder’s full name and his Louisville tour information, both in braille and English.
The company has made replicas of the Stevie Wonder braille bats that are now on display at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory.
